Well written and edited.I've enjoyed both Emma Parks books and hope there are more. Emma's a new CPS worker (still on probation), so I like seeing the bureaucracy, her co-workers and the human complications through her fresh eyes. Emma is a realistic character who tries to do the right thing but readily admits all her faults. The story is rounded out with her boyfriend and his family. Emma's dysfunctional family makes a disruptive appearance in this book. It's all tied together with a mystery involving a teenager in Emma's caseload.
I just have to add that I thought the ending was well done. I see so many weak endings that I don't bother to comment on them, so this strong one stood out.
This is not a complaint, but note that this book might be a little shorter than the normal novel.
